Evenings: Sunday, Wednesday & Thursday 7:00-10:00 p.m.*

Daytimes: Tuesday & Friday 12:00 Noon-3:00 p.m.

NIDL is located in room B41 on the basement level of the Helmke Library on IPFW's campus.  A parking garage with free parking is available just East of the building at the end of E. Campus Drive.  Handicap parking is in the lot just South of the Library at the end of E. Campus Drive.  Meters are also available in the lot just South but are only for 30 minutes.  On the IPFW Campus Map look for the Helmke Library or building (7).

NIDL's presence on the IPFW Campus is a collaboration between the Fort Wayne Community Educational Center, Inc., IPFW, and the Walter E. Helmke Library.

 

Donations:

NIDL shares the Fort Wayne Community Educational Centers' 501(c)(3) status and donations are tax deductible.  Make checks out to "NIDL" and mail them to the address below. We need your support to the Library at this time which is crucial for the preservation of our GLBT library and for the library's future.  Please, won't you consider giving a tax-deductable gift of support so that this library will not be lost to our community?  The library also warmly welcomes donations of  materials.

NEI LGBTQ Coalition

NEI LGBTQ Coalition Logo

 

The Northeast Indiana LGBTQ Coalition is a group of non-profit orgaqnizations working together and standing up for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgendered or questioning persons in the Fort Wayne and surrounding region.

 

Mission

The Northeast Indiana LGBTQ Coalition seeks to enhance and support LGBTQ services in Allen County and surrounding areas by raising awareness of LGBTQ issues and engaging in education and advocacy for LGBTQ-affirming non-profit organizations.

 

Some current member organizations include:

  • YWCA of Northeast Indiana;
  • Safe Zone at IPFW;
  • Fort Wayne Pride; 
  • The Center for Nonviolence; 
  • Northeast Indiana Diversity Library; 
  • Fort Wayne Sexual Assault;

TransYouth Family Allies

In carrying out its mission, TransYouth Family Allies is guided by the following principles:

    • All children, regardless of individual socioeconomic conditions, age, color, creed, disability, gender identity, national origin, race, religion, sexual orientation, family status or military status should have an opportunity to be represented by our organization.
    • The interests and concerns of all transgender and gender variant children are valuable and should be heard and fairly represented. This includes all classes, subgroups, and minorities.
    • Mutual benefit can be achieved by working with other organizations in the pursuit of civil and human rights for transgender and gender variant children.
    • TYFA empowers children and families by partnering with educators, service providers and communities, to develop supportive environments in which gender may be expressed and respected.

Horizons Youth Group

About Horizons Youth Group: horizons
Horizons offers a safe space for GLBT teens and their allied friends to socialize with others and learn about themselves in Fort Wayne and the surrounding Northeast Indiana areaHorizons was established by UTSCC in 1997.  It is a social group for GLBT youth in middle school and high school. During the Helmke Library Refresh ...the Horizons will not meet at the NIDL! 
 
Horizons will join with the NEI LGBTQA Coalition's GSA in 2016.  
The GSA, started by the NEI LGBTQ Coalition,
...is now called Fort Wayne InsideOUT Youth Group!
Our first event is a dance/rave!
The GSA Dance is going to be JANUARY 16th at CS3 (Calhoun Street Soup, Salads, and Spirits) Tiger Room, 7- 10 PM.
$5 per person or $8 per couple--Under 21 ONLY!

Horizons is primarily a social/discussion group.  However, this format also serves as an educational and support network.  If you are a teen in middle school or high school who wants a group where you can be yourself or if you are a parent, counselor or teacher who knows gay teens who could benefit from this group please feel free to contact NIDL for more details or email to the address below with Horizons in the subject line.

Transgender Discussion Group

About the group:

We would like to let any transgender person out there know that you are not alone.  During the Helmke Library Refresh ...the Transgender Discussion Group will meets the third Sunday of
the month from 7pm till 9 PM @ After Dark bar on112 W Masterson Avenue. There are a wide range of ideas that are discussed, along with a chance to meet people at different levels in their progress.  So don't be shy!  Come on out and join in on the conversations.
